Ripple has partnered with Meritz Securities, one of South Korea’s leading securities firms, to bring its digital asset custody and tokenization technology into the country’s capital markets.
The deal marks Ripple’s first partnership with a South Korean securities firm and its fourth institutional partnership in the country this year.
Ripple Brings Crypto Custody to Meritz Securities
Under the partnership, Meritz Securities will study Ripple Custody and its tokenization technology for use in its existing securities business.
Ripple Custody provides secure storage, transfer, and settlement of digital assets for financial institutions. It also helps firms manage the private keys that control these assets. However, building such a system in-house can be costly and take years, so using Ripple’s existing technology could help Meritz prepare its services more quickly.

Meritz Securities Managing Director of the Strategic Planning Unit Byungha Kang said that,
“This partnership lays the foundation for combining Ripple’s global digital asset infrastructure with our capital markets capabilities
The deal is important because it gives Ripple a route into South Korea’s $4.51 trillion capital markets through an established securities firm.

Meritz Eyes Crypto ETFs, Tokenized Assets and Won Stablecoins
Beyond custody, Meritz Securities is exploring several digital asset services, including spot crypto ETFs, security tokens, fractional investments, trading platforms and South Korean won-denominated stablecoins.
Ripple’s custody tools could help Meritz store and protect digital assets, while its tokenization technology could turn assets into digital tokens on a blockchain.
Meritz is also exploring won-denominated stablecoins, which could be used to make digital payments and transfer money. Together, these plans show how Meritz could use Ripple’s technology for more than crypto storage, including investment products and digital payments.
Ripple’s Managing Director for Asia Pacific, Fiona Murray, said,
“Ripple brings the full infrastructure stack across payments, custody and tokenization, backed by more than 85 licenses and a network spanning more than 60 markets globally.”
Ripple Now Works With Four Korean Financial Institutions
The Meritz deal is Ripple’s fourth institutional partnership in South Korea this year and its first with a securities firm.
Ripple is also working with Kyobo Life Insurance on tokenized government bond settlement, Kbank on digital asset wallet infrastructure, and Jeonbuk Bank on cross-border payments.
The timing of the partnership matters as South Korea prepares changes to its digital asset rules, with a broader regulatory framework scheduled to take effect in February 2027.
