Blockchain.com and the NYSE are taking another step toward around-the-clock tokenized securities trading. The two companies signed an MOU on September 23 outlining a distribution plan that could give Blockchain.com users access to tokenized U.S. exchange-listed equities and ETFs through the NYSE’s previously announced digital ATS, subject to required regulatory approvals.
The proposed arrangement targets Blockchain.com’s global crypto-native customer base. Tokenized securities could offer fractional ownership, 24/7 trading independent of traditional market hours, global investor access and faster onchain settlement.
The timing is very notable. As Citi Institute’s forecast puts its base case for tokenized assets at $5.5 trillion by 2030, while adoption of tokenized securities has accelerated in recent years. Still, this isn’t a live trading launch yet. The proposed access remains subject to regulatory approvals.
The MOU also covers bidirectional market-data distribution. ICE Data Services plans to distribute Blockchain.com’s crypto market data and analytics to its subscribing clients, potentially giving traditional investors more information about digital assets.
Blockchain.com, meanwhile, plans to incorporate certain ICE and NYSE exchange data feeds into its app. That could give its more than 44 million confirmed accounts access to real-time stock information.
Tokenized Securities Push Gets Another Test
Blockchain.com’s scale gives the partnership another angle. The company says it has supported more than 95 million wallets, 44 million confirmed accounts and over $1.1 trillion in crypto transactions since its 2011 launch, operating across more than 70 jurisdictions.
The proposed NYSE connection therefore isn’t simply about putting stocks onchain. It’s also about combining traditional exchange data with a global crypto platform, while testing whether tokenized securities can extend market access beyond conventional trading hours.
For Blockchain.com and NYSE, the next step is clear: turn the proposed tokenized securities distribution plan into an approved product that can actually operate globally around the clock.
