Bitcoin brought Satoshi Nakamoto’s words from 2010 to the agenda again

The cryptocurrency market remembered the anniversary of one of the most well-known breakouts in the history of digital assets. In a discussion on the Bitcointalk forum on July 29, 2010, Bitcoin’s pseudonymous creator, Satoshi Nakamoto, directly responded to criticism about the network’s scalability and transaction speed.

The discussion in the forum was recalled again

In the title titled “Scalability and transaction rate”, a user argued that Bitcoin was slow for daily use. The focus of criticism was the wait of approximately 10 minutes for a transfer to be confirmed. The same user thought that Bitcoin was practically left behind, claiming that the debit cards used in the store worked instantly.

Satoshi Nakamoto responded to this objection by explaining that the network could enable fast payments if combined with third-party payment processors. Satoshi argued that thanks to this structure, payments could be made in 10 seconds or less. Satoshi Nakamoto refers to the person or group known as the creator of Bitcoin, but whose real identity is still unverified.

“If you don’t believe me or don’t understand the point, I don’t have time to convince you, I’m sorry.”

Chart in the early years of Bitcoin

In 2010, when these words were written, Bitcoin was around $0.07. The network was sustained by the support of only a few hundred enthusiasts and developers. While Bitcoin’s technical structure and usage area were frequently questioned at that time, Satoshi himself defended why the system could work in his forum messages.

The issue at the heart of the debate was not limited to processing time alone. The real distinction emerged between payment systems that worked with traditional financial logic and the different structure offered by a decentralized network. Satoshi’s response therefore offered not just a technical explanation, but a broader framework for how Bitcoin should be evaluated.

The market has grown in the intervening years

By 2026, Bitcoin has left the limited community phase of its early days behind. The asset has become an exchange-traded product recognized by governments and major financial institutions. The presence of institutions such as BlackRock and Morgan Stanley in this field indicates that the market is accepted on an institutional scale.

The total value of the cryptocurrency market is expressed in trillions of dollars today. Bitcoin, on the other hand, maintains its position around $64,300 after its peak of over $126,000 last year.

Indicator 2010 2026
Bitcoin price About $0.07 Approximately $64,300
Market structure Hundreds of supporters Corporate participation and the trillion-dollar market
Institutional acceptance very limited to none Wide acceptance including BlackRock and Morgan Stanley

Satoshi’s brief and acrimonious exit in 2010 remains one of the most well-known statements symbolizing the skepticism of Bitcoin’s early history. Years later, the same saying came to the fore again as one of the symbols of Bitcoin’s journey from forum discussions to the global financial agenda.
