There was another high-level separation at the Ethereum Foundation. Hsiao-Wei Wang, one of the agency’s co-executive directors, announced his resignation on Thursday. Wang stated that the decision came into force on the same day. The separation comes amid a management transition that has been ongoing at the foundation.
New separation in management
Wang announced his decision to leave to the public with a statement shared on X. He stated that he had the opportunity to re-evaluate his priorities and future plans after his recent leave of absence. Ethereum Foundation is known as one of the main institutions supporting the development of the Ethereum ecosystem.
In his statement, Hsiao-Wei Wang stated that the period during which he was on leave provided him with space to think, and that at the end of this process, he decided that it was the right time for him to resign from his position.
Wang’s departure is not the only management change at the foundation. Co-executive director Tomasz Stańczak had also previously announced that he planned to step down. Stańczak stated that he would remain in office for a while to support the transition process.
Bastian Aue stood out during the transition
While Wang was on leave, board member Bastian Aue took on broader responsibility. Aue supported the execution of leadership duties along with other executives during the transition period. It was reported that his role within the foundation has grown even more with recent developments.
The organization continues its operations through the current board of directors and executives, as the two co-executive directors enter the separation process. However, no official statement has yet been made about who will replace Wang.
Differences in recent months attracted attention
The Ethereum Foundation has experienced a number of personnel changes over the past five months. According to reported data, at least eight senior figures left the institution during this period. This situation brought the discussions regarding the management structure and internal organization of the foundation back to the agenda.
It is being closely watched how the leadership structure in the foundation will be shaped after the recent departures. Evaluations stand out that the current transition is part of a broader restructuring.
Wang emphasized personal priorities in his statement
Wang also touched upon the development process of Ethereum in his statement. He emphasized that the network reached its current position not with the contribution of a single person or a single institution, but with the contribution of many teams and individuals.
Wang noted that Ethereum never fits into a single role, a single institution, or a single moment, and that the ecosystem is shaped by the joint effort of a broader community.
In the separation announcement, no information was given about a new position or future plans. The Ethereum Foundation has also not announced a new co-executive director to replace Wang so far.
