Roman Semenov, the co-founder of Tornado Cash, a decentralized privacy solution for Ethereum, has been added to the US Office of Foreign Assets Control’s (OFAC) list of Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN). The OFAC list is used to target individuals and entities suspected of being involved in activities that threaten US national security, foreign policy, or economic interests. The reason for Semenov’s inclusion on the list is not clear, but it could prevent US individuals and businesses from transacting with him.
