The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has filed charges against Binance’s CEO, Changpeng Zhao, for allegedly ignoring an agreement with the regulatory agency. According to the SEC, Zhao violated the agreement that Binance would not allow US residents to trade on its platform. The SEC claims that Binance continued to offer trading services to US customers, prompting the agency to take legal action against Zhao. The charges against Zhao include violating registration provisions of US federal securities laws. The SEC is seeking undisclosed fines and penalties against Zhao and Binance to settle the charges.
