Kraken Ventures, the venture capital unit of crypto exchange Kraken, is seeking to raise $100 million for its second fund, according to three insiders. Kraken Ventures secured $65 million for its inaugural fund, which closed in 2021. Brandon Gath, managing partner of Kraken Ventures, said smaller funds outperform larger funds and that it would continue to support founders from early stage to IPO. Investment volume in the crypto sector has fallen for five consecutive quarters and is expected to decrease in Q3 2022. Startups including Ledger and LayerZero Labs have still been able to secure large sums of capital.
