Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has thrown his support behind the CLARITY Act after President Donald Trump’s White House innovation summit, urging lawmakers to “Let’s Finish the Job.”
Meanwhile, his comments come as the bill heads toward a key Senate vote on September 15.
Ripple CEO Garlinghouse Pushes for CLARITY Act
Responding to CFTC Chairman Mike Selig’s post, Garlinghouse said he was “proud to be in the room” alongside leaders from the crypto and traditional finance industries.
He also called on lawmakers to finish their work on clear crypto rules, saying,
“Making America the crypto capital of the world is within reach — let’s finish the job.”
The CLARITY Act would give the CFTC more control over crypto trading, while reducing the SEC’s role in secondary crypto markets.
For Ripple, the issue carries extra weight after its long legal fight with the SEC over XRP. Garlinghouse has repeatedly said that unclear rules have made it harder for crypto companies to operate and grow in the U.S.
September 15 Vote Is Key Now
Garlinghouse’s post comes as the CLARITY Act faces an important Senate vote on September 15. Senators will vote on whether to move forward with H.R. 3633, and the bill needs 60 votes to clear this stage.
If it passes, the Senate can begin debate, consider amendments, and hold further votes before a final vote on the bill.
The timing is also tight because House Republicans have canceled voting sessions for the weeks of September 21 and September 28, removing eight legislative days from the calendar.
Lawmakers are now expected to leave Washington on September 17, leaving the House with little time to act if the Senate makes changes to the bill.
The National Sheriffs’ Group Drops Opposition to CLARITY Act
Perhapss on the bullish side, the National Sheriffs’ Association has dropped its opposition to the bill and moved to a neutral position.
In a September 5, 2026, letter to Senate leaders John Thune and Charles Schumer, the group said the decision was based on the bill’s complexity and unresolved details. The association had previously raised concerns about decentralized finance and possible gaps in anti-money laundering rules.
The move follows the Major County Sheriffs of America also taking a neutral position in July.
With both groups no longer opposing the bill, lawmakers may face less resistance as the Senate moves closer to its next step on the CLARITY Act.
