Ripple announced a new developer package called XRPL AI Starter Kit for AI-supported payment applications running on XRP Ledger. According to the company’s statement, this step is the first phase of a multi-phase plan targeting machine-to-machine trading infrastructure. Package; The MCP server includes Claude compatible tools and X402 protocol support. XRP and RLUSD can be used in intermediary transactions from the first day.
What tools were offered in the first phase
The announcement comes at a time when AI agent systems are moving beyond experimental use and becoming more visible in actual payment processes. Developers can now access XRPL documentation directly from the XRPL Docs MCP Server. This structure aims to reduce the need to manually search through documents during development.
Mini dictionary: MCP is used as a protocol approach that allows AI systems to connect more regularly with external tools and data sources. Claude is known as the generative artificial intelligence model family developed by Anthropic.
Compatible clients include Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor and custom agent frameworks. Ripple also introduced two new Claude skills called XRPL Agent Wallet Skill and XRPL Payment Skill. These; It provides structured access to basic ledger functions such as wallet creation, balance inquiry, payment sending and transaction tracking.
Ripple stated that AI agent systems are no longer a future scenario, but are already paying for computing power, settling invoices, acting within policy limits, and completing transactions without human intervention.
According to the company, these tools are designed to ease the onboarding technical burden for teams building agent-based workflows. Ripple stated that developers can run a verified testnet payment in under 30 minutes.
Why X402 and XRPL stand out
In the first phase, X402 protocol support was also activated. Thanks to this integration added with the contribution of Partner t54, intermediary systems on XRPL can make payments with XRP or RLUSD for API calls, artificial intelligence model extraction and digital services. Thus, XRPL became one of the supported networks within the broader X402 ecosystem.
Mini dictionary: X402 is referred to as a protocol approach that focuses on software systems establishing programmable payment flows over the internet. This structure stands out in automatic payment-for-service scenarios, especially among artificial intelligence agents.
Some technical features of XRP Ledger that are suitable for this area of use were also highlighted in the announcement. Transactions are finalized within 3 to 5 seconds and there are no uncertain pending situations. This allows an intermediary system to directly proceed to the next step after approval.
The fact that transaction fees in the network are fixed and predictable has been shown as a remarkable element for systems that make multi-step budget calculations. XRPL’s built-in decentralized exchange also allows payments between different currencies within a single transaction. The lack of need for external bridges or swap agreements was among the prominent aspects of this structure.

On the corporate side, established control tools such as escrow structure, multi-signature, deposit authorization and trust line were highlighted. It was stated that these features can help organizations define transaction limits for intermediary systems without developing custom smart contracts. Ripple’s US dollar-backed stablecoin RLUSD also offers a more stable nominal layer for invoice settlement and payroll-like workflows.
In the announcement, it was also shared that XRPL has been operating uninterruptedly since 2012 and has not experienced any transaction reversals. It was stated that this past performance is considered important for teams that want to implement intermediary systems that work with real capital.
