Sharplink, which is traded on Nasdaq, has strengthened its identity as an Ethereum-focused institutional investment platform with its recent transformation. According to the company’s latest financial report, formerly known as SharpLink Gaming, 46 percent of its publicly traded shares were in the hands of institutional investors as of December 31, 2025. Additionally, as of February 15, 2026, the company had approximately 867,798 Ethereum in its portfolio, and the market value of this amount was $1.72 billion.
Brand Transformation and New Strategy
Sharplink recently announced its new brand identity with the slogan “Make a Difference with Ethereum”. With this step, the company completely moved away from the field of sports games and focused on institutional-level Ethereum asset management services. The aim of this strategic shift is to provide institutions and investors with regulated and transparent Ethereum exposure.
Noticeable Increase in Staking Returns
As part of the Ethereum treasury strategy that the company launched in June 2025, a total of 13,615 Ethereum amounts of staking income has been generated so far. Current CEO Joseph Chalom is a former executive at BlackRock. According to Chalom’s statement, the company actively stakes close to all the Ethereum it manages. 4,560 of the staking returns were earned on the Ethereum mainnet, and 8,906 were earned through liquid staking solutions.
Explaining their strategy, Joseph Chalom said, “We invest almost all of our assets in staking, and this serves our goal of maximum efficiency for shareholders.”
In the last quarter of 2025, the company added approximately 60 new institutional investors to its portfolio. Sharplink’s status as a publicly traded company has allowed it to stand out as a regulated and efficient investment vehicle by increasing its Ethereum holdings per share. In this way, corporate actors have the opportunity to directly participate in the Ethereum ecosystem under a legal framework.
Increase in Institutional Ethereum Demand
Sharplink’s strategy shift demonstrates the adoption of Ethereum not just as a speculative asset but also as an institutional reserve vehicle. The total staking rate in the Ethereum network reached 30.7 percent, according to the latest data. With the expansion of the network’s usage opportunities, institutions other than traditional finance have also increased their orientation towards Ethereum.
This trend is reflected in different parts of the market. However, not all corporate initiatives turn out similarly. For example, Founders Fund, a well-known venture capital firm, recently completely terminated its position in ETHZilla, which operates in the Ethereum treasury space. This development also reveals that cautious steps continue on the corporate side.
