The new collaboration launched between Ripple and UK-based asset management company Aviva Investors focuses on the tokenization of traditional funds. This step was taken at a time when crypto assets were becoming more integrated with the traditional financial world.
Aviva Explores the Advantages of Tokenization
Aviva Investors plans to introduce tokenization technology to its fund portfolios in cooperation with Ripple. The company is of the opinion that processes will be accelerated and costs will be reduced with blockchain technologies. Jill Barber, the company’s Director of Distribution, believes it can offer investors benefits in terms of time and cost.
It is stated that it will bring significant efficiency advantages to investors and the aim is to manage funds more effectively.
While this project is the first tokenization initiative for Aviva Investors, it stands out as Ripple’s first partnership in the field of investment management on the European continent. It is stated that the parties will work with a long-term approach and continue their close cooperation in 2026 and beyond.
XRPL: Fast, Secure and Low-Cost Infrastructure
Within the scope of the collaboration, Aviva Investors will tokenize and manage its funds on XRP Ledger. As a public and open-source blockchain, XRP Ledger is known for its fast transaction confirmation and low-cost infrastructure. In addition, energy saving is also emphasized since it is designed in a structure that does not require mining. Compliance tools built into XRPL make it easier for financial institutions to meet regulatory requirements.
In the data provided by Ripple, it is stated that XRP Ledger has processed more than 4 billion transactions since 2012 and there are more than 7 million active wallets on the platform. The security of the network is provided by 120 independent verifiers. The system’s native cryptocurrency, XRP, plays a fundamental role in this infrastructure.
Ripple believes that XRPL offers a scalable and secure infrastructure for institutional assets, thanks to its built-in compliance features, instant settlement capacity and liquidity opportunities.
XRPL recently introduced a feature that allows the creation of permitted zones with the update called XLS-80. Thus, it has become technically possible to create private, permission-based areas for institutions on the public blockchain.
Aviva Investors did not share details about which funds would be tokenized in the first stage or how the regulatory processes would work. In response to questions, the company said it was not ready to provide further information at this time.
