Shytoshi Kusama, the leading name of the Shiba Inu ecosystem and one of the most followed figures in the community, has not shared anything on the X platform since September 15. Kusama’s long silence has become remarkable, especially due to the technical problems and security-oriented developments experienced in the ecosystem in recent months.
Kusama’s Silence and the Latest Turmoil in the Shibarium
The rebase error seen in the LEASH token and the short-term exploit attempt on the Shibarium bridge increased the community’s concerns. In the last update, it was reported that the hacker who exploited the Shibarium bridge rejected the reward offered, and Shima from K9 Finance shared the hacker’s trace with the public. Kusama’s silence during this whole moving process increased the community’s questions even more.
It was noteworthy that Kusama emphasized in her last statement in X that this silence was not an “absence”. Stating that he continues to work with the Shiba Inu team, the leader said that he is working intensively to advance projects focused on artificial intelligence. Kusama, who limited her social media posts after the AI-focused technical document published at the end of July, did not choose to make any statement about it, although she gave clues to her followers with location and biography updates.
Will History Repeat? Kusama’s December Tradition
Looking at previous years, it seems that Kusama was more active in December. The 44-episode “Shy Speaks” podcast series, published at the end of 2024, offered important insights into the philosophy, technology and future of Shiba Inu.
In December 2023, his posts highlighting the developments regarding Shibarium had a great impact and he shared his new year expectations with the community. For this reason, many investors and SHIB community members are closely monitoring whether there will be activity again in the last month of the year.
This year the picture is different. As the first six days of December 2025 pass, Kusama’s deep silence continues. The reason for this is again given as “full focus” on personal AI projects. However, the question remains the same: Will Kusama make a surprise announcement in December, or will her silence extend to 2026?
While these discussions were ongoing, another important development took place in the SHIB ecosystem. Last week, it was announced that the testnet phase for the new version of ShibaSwap has been expanded. While the community expects Shibaswap 2.0 to increase transaction volume and user interaction, this development has further strengthened the possibility of a possible December announcement by Kusama.
As a result, it remains unclear whether Shytoshi Kusama’s silence is just a social media hiatus or a sign of a major transformation. Considering Shibarium, ShibaSwap, and the AI projects in the ecosystem, December has generally been a period of major announcements for SHIB. That’s why the community is paying close attention to possible announcements that may come in the coming weeks.
