American financial services giant Charles Schwab has significantly increased its role in the institutional Bitcoin ecosystem. The company purchased an additional 91,859 shares of Strategy, a company managed by Michael Saylor, bringing its total share holding to approximately 1.27 million. The current value of these shares is calculated as 168 million dollars.
New Era in Corporate Portfolio
This purchase represents not only a change in portfolio balance, but also a positioning closer to the institutional Bitcoin treasury model that the Strategy advocates and has long implemented. Following major financial institutions such as BlackRock and Vanguard, Schwab also increased its weight in the Strategy stock, showing that interest in Bitcoin-focused balance sheet strategies is growing rapidly.
Strategy and Corporate Bitcoin Approach
The strategy stands out, especially in recent years, with its approach of keeping Bitcoin as the main reserve asset and offering it as a tool to institutional investors. Schwab’s increase in stake reflects confidence in both the Strategy’s stock performance and the long-term viability of Bitcoin as an institutional asset class. Schwab management stated that this new position is aligned with the company’s growing digital asset strategy.
A Growing Participation in the Digital Asset Ecosystem
Customer interest in Schwab’s exchange-traded crypto funds and digital asset products remains significant. The company announced that its customers currently hold approximately $25 billion of crypto-related investment products on the platform. It announced that it plans to launch direct Bitcoin and Ethereum trading in the first half of 2026.
The interest in strategy stocks appears to be integrating with this broad range of products, further deepening Schwab’s offerings in the crypto space.
The share increase in Strategy reflects a long-term and gradual accumulation rather than a short-term buy-sell move. The number of shares increased from 1,178,141 in 2025 to 1,270,000 in February 2026. Schwab officials designed this approach based on the company’s strategic goals, not current market conditions.
Various Crypto Investment Products and Future Plans
In addition to Strategy stock, Schwab also offers crypto-themed ETFs and a variety of blockchain-focused investment products. Among these, the Schwab Crypto Thematic ETF, which invests in infrastructure companies such as Cipher Mining, Hut 8 and Coinbase, stands out. Additionally, products such as Global X Blockchain & Bitcoin Strategy ETF and Roundhill Bitcoin Covered Call Strategy ETF are also offered. Thus, versatile access to customers is provided through mining, infrastructure, derivative products and yield-based strategies.
The finance giant continues its preparations to launch its own stablecoin in the future and potentially evaluate acquisition or partnership opportunities in the crypto industry. Realization of these steps could enable Schwab to go beyond passive investments and take part directly in the digital finance infrastructure.
The company’s increase in its share in Strategy has reasserted Schwab’s assertion in the integration between traditional finance and the world of digital assets. The developments indicate that institutional crypto adoption has moved into a new phase.
