Hot Development: Crypto Platform Was Attacked, Bitcoin Falls

Transak Hacked

Crypto Payment services provider Transak has just fallen victim to ransomware, as reported by ZachXBT. Attackers have received billions of dollars in illicit payouts with this ransomware for years, and it’s annoying that the latest victim is a crypto company.

Transak 170 different cryptocurrency It supports and provides services in 162 countries. It is widely used by users as it is compatible with 75 different blockchains and supports more than 20 local payment methods. In its announcement today, the company wrote:

“We recently discovered that an attacker gained unauthorized access to the laptop of one of our employees through a sophisticated phishing attack. Using the compromised credentials, the attacker was able to log into the system of a third-party KYC vendor we use for document scanning and verification services. As a result, the attacker gained access to certain user information stored in the vendor’s control panel.

The identity information of 1.14% of our users was compromised. Email, password, credit card information, social security numbers and other private information were not accessed.

There is currently no indication that data has been misused. However, we advise affected users to remain vigilant and monitor for suspicious activity. “We will reach out to affected users with advice and resources to protect them from possible misuse of information and provide resources such as identity monitoring services.”
